Lavatera acerifolia (a Canary Islands endemic)

I've come across this Canary Island endemic, Lavatera acerifolia,
which I have nver heard about before - does anyone have any info
about this plant?  Is it available anywhere?  Is it adaptable to
cultivation?  Any information or direction would be greatly
appreciated.
