Hi Nan,

As a couple of people have already replied to you - yes, you are right.
To be precise, your mid-winter's day (winter solstice), is our
mid-summer's day (summer solstice).

As you know, this occurs in late December, but the season continues to
warm up for another couple of months after that, even though the day's
are beginning to get shorter (down here) or longer (up where you are).
Our hottest days usually occur in early/mid February.

Right now, we are just approaching mid-winter day.
