First of all, I'd like to say hello to all of you, as I'm new to the list
:-) I'm Sabina. German, but living on the Canarian Island of La Palma. More or
less bontanically 'touched' by my mother who is a relatively famous author of
books on Mushrooms (if you are interested: there's our list of all the funghi we
have found the last 20 years here in La Palma at http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/4652/setalist.html
) and with interest in plants as well.
And now to the Lavatera:
Book: Flores silvestres de las Islas Canarias from David Bramwell and Zoë
I. Bramwell
Apart from the description of the plant it says that is grows frequently in
Teneriffe (250-500m), and not that frequent in Gran Canaria and La Gomera (there
it is grown even as a garden plant). In La Palma it is rare.
I'll try to contact one of our real busy biologists, Juan Castro, this
weekend. Maybe he knows where to get some seeds?
Hasta luego, Sabina
