Verbascum

Hello:

The verbascum plants that come up everywhere in my yard
are all bolting up their bloomstalks, these days. This
is the common 'donkey ears' with the gray, felty leaves.

Despite it's being common as dirt, it makes a nice show
in my driveway cactus bed. People actually stop and ask
what it is and say they would like a start of it. I have
never been able to dig up a plant, as they seem to collapse
instantly. I tell people to come back later in the season,
when I'll have jars of seeds.
