We have Camellia sasanqua starting into bloom right now after 4
months with no rain and no irrigation and high mid-summer temps
around 40+ degrees Celsius. They are mostly in the open and get
full sun most of the day. We have a mix of older Japanese cvs and
modern Australian cvs. They are very common hedge and open
garden shrubs in Sydney and Melbourne, less often used here as
many areas have alkaline soils - but not where we live.
