I feel very much like David, from my still cooler and damper and
shadier outpost on the West Coast of the UK.
Although many Mediterranean 'standards' (both native to the Med itself
and from other Med regions) do surprisingly well here, plants from
cool areas of a roughly rain forest sort do even better: hence I'm
even more interested in exploring the lesser-known possibilities among
plants of *that* kind than I am in exploring 'proper' Mediterraneans.
So, again like David, I often feel like a gatecrasher who's
fast-talked himself into completely the wrong party - but since
nobody's objected yet....!
