In the Random House Webster's College Dictionary,
1992, page 1046, both "pollination" and
"pollinization" (both spelled as shown) are listed.
Unfortunately, it doesn't do any better than to show
"pollination" as a form of "pollinate" ("v.t., to
convey pollen to the stigma of the flower") and
"pollinization" as a form of "pollinize" ("v.t.,
POLLINATE"!).
Interesting info, also from the same book: the word
"pollinate" originated in 1870-75, whereas the word
"pollinize" (the word I thought was closer to being an
unreal word) originated earlier, in 1840-50.
