Many thanks.... and now storm damage

Thanks to all you guys who replied to my query on Billbergia nutans.

We have had 24 hours of non stop heavy rain and high winds.  My newly planted trees were blasted by the winds and were sitting in a lake of water yesterday morning.  The lake has disappeared now and the trees remain upright but a couple of mature yuccas (8ft, single trunk, multiple headed) broke off near the base of the trunks.  Can I cut off the uneven break and allow to dry over a week or so and replant? What are my chances on such a big plant - I want to keep most of the height if possible.

Apart from this storm, the temps have been in the high 20sC, bougainvillaea, arum lilies and cannas are in flower right now.

Happy Easter to all,

Maria,
Costa Blanca
