I highly recommend sending for a small little guide book Bed and Breakfast for Garden Lovers. It is a "guide to properties offering accommodation where guests and host may share a common love of gardens and gardening."
We used it and stayed with some wonderful gardeners, saw some wonderful collections and got tips on other sights.... and the beds were very comfortable and the breakfasts very FULL English breakfasts!
Perhaps you can get info online now, but the address is:

You arrange to pay a nominal fee and they send it to you. It's also free at most of the tourist reservation offices in Great Britain.
BTW: They have B & B's all over Great Britain.
