Protea 'Pink Ice'

I bought a small plant of this at a local nursery. It
was in good shape, no dead or dying leaves, a nice
triple branching with relatively equal distance
between the branches. It's also about a foot tall. I
was already aware that this is a good beginner's
protea, and from pictures I've seen a gorgeous
cultivar.

My questions are, at what size will a new plant of
this cultivar begin flowering? As well as, how fast
will it grow? 

The soil I have is derived from old sand dunes. We're
back away from the coast, and it had been occupied by
weedy annual grasses. It's had absolutely no
cultivation since my parent's moved in (about 30 years
ago), so the sand is almost like it was when the house
was built.
