lawn alternatives - a media opportunity

The Senior Editor of Martha Stewart Living has contacted me while doing research regarding gardens that have opted out of the standard lawn but retained the open feeling that a lawn provides (I presume they mean meadow-like or low-growing mixtures of plants). If any of you have some suggestions regarding gardens or designers here in California, please let me know a.s.a.p. as I am planning to summarize and return my own research in the next week or two. It would be especially useful if there were web-links connected to your information.

Thanks in advance,
Seán O.
