Dear David
I am very sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts will be with you on Sunday. It is a little far to travel from Tasmania!
You may remember myself [Gay Klok] and my husband {Kees} who have gardened together in two gardens, town and country. We have celebrated our 50th anniversary this year. It was great fun we were with the other 18 members of our close knit members of family [10 grandchildren] but very deep in my heart I thought of our ages [71 me and 81 Kees] and the repeating nigle "What will become of our gardens, the life work [not forgetting the children] and love shared between us.
Again, my deepest sympathies
Regards Gay

I hope this does not seem inappropriate to post this
here, but I did want to let people who may have known
my long term life partner, Ernie Gladney, that he
passed away last Tuesday, March 25, 2008 after an 8
month battle with liver cancer. Those of you who may
have seen Ernie at horticultural events and garden
tours might remember him as the only African-american
male with the ever gracious smile, with a genuine love
of gardens and plants, and a budding talent in garden
design who particularly loved all things succulent,
Brazilian samba, ballet and dancing in general, and
trips to Bali.
We will be having a memorial service to commemorate
his life this coming Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 2 to
5pm in Albany, Ca. If anyone who knew Ernie would
like to attend, and come to share refreshments and
stories to tell about knowing Ernie, please contact me
for the details, by email at my address:

Although Ernie was not a regular poster on the
Medit-Plants forum, he was very much a part of the
gardening scene here locally, and could perhaps be
best remembered, if one is so inclined by a charitable
contribution to one of the local Botanic gardens such
as UCBBG(Berkeley) or UCSCBG(Santa Cruz) or the Ruth
Bancroft Garden.
