Celmisia - mostly confined to New Zealand
and nearby islands and Tasmania.
Over 50 species -from approx. 1 inch
to 3 ft. Generally with grey leaves and
white daisy flowers.
Most require and are easy to grow in cool
moist conditions, being alpine they are used
to a daily bath in the msit of the mountains.
Apparently good seed [collected from the
wild] germinate freely. My patch [grown from plant purchased in Tasmanian
nursery]has
spread [celmisia bellidioides] widely,
not very sure if from seed or what! Am
just about to leave for country garden
where they are growing and shall see what
I can see and report if I see anything
of note. I am sure damp conditions are
essential.
