POSITION: TREE SPEC II (#J970516-TCC). Salary: A26, $15.46-16.24.
Bargaining unit. New position. Fixed term - 1 year from start Posted:
03/17/97.

DESC: Working under general supervision of a Grds. Supvr. or other
higher-level employee, maintains acceptable physical appearance &
healthy condition of mature trees on campus. Most work is performed
independently. Diagnoses all common diseases, pests & other problems in
trees; decides or recommends care & treatment. Scrapes decayed matter
from cavities in trees & fills holes w/ cement; removes parts of
trees or whole trees. Alert for early indications of tree problems. 
Keeps up to date in knowledge of new chemicals & other treatment 
methods, etc.

QUALS: Ability to perform tree specialist duties in all types of
outside weather conditions. Freedom from allergies traceable to pollen,
dust & poison oak. Be willing to participate in an immunization
program. Ability to climb & work as high as 75 feet; ability to lift up
to 100 pounds. Ability to withstand extensive standing, walking,
stooping, squatting, pushing & pulling. Must have previous work
experience in groundskeeping, grounds equipment operation, &/or related
work. Weekend work may be required for this position. Punctuality, good
attendance, valid California driver's license & good driving record is
required.
