No great trick, the seeds want lots of warmth like most Solanaceae. They
grow outside in the bay area all year round; a frost will damage them
(like the one 5-6 years ago...really did a number on the Brugmansia behind
my friend'd place in Oakland). They also do well in containers. Here
(Seattle) we just put them in a garage for the winter, and as long as they
are protected from a hard freeze, they make it just fine.
