be thankful it's moles, not gophers, as the moles do upheave the ground a bit
but don't eat your plants.
one thing i have used for the last couple of years for both moles and gophers,
is when I brush my dogs, i save the hair and stuff it in a mole or gopher
hole, then send a jet of water to send it into the passage, because these
critters don't like it.
I can't say it gets rid of them completely, but does seem to help more than
anything else i have tried (chewing gum, traps, etc.)
good luck, i bet it has you concerned about your roses, but the moles really
don't do that much real damage, just a bit unsightly and a nuisance!
