They also grow very well and are widely planted in the Imperial Valley, with
annual rainfall under 2".  As I recall, the fruits aren't particularly tasty.
They''re called "plums" more from a superficial resemblance than anything
else.  The fruits exude a white sap when cut or bitten into.  The flowers,
however, are lovely, with a delicious fragrance.
