Hi Deborah
This NZ bred variety is described in my book (Metcalf's Cultivation of
NZ trees and shrubs) as " a very handsome plant. The shining leaves with
their brown shading are most distinctive".
A rounded shrub up to 1.8m tall ( approx 6ft) by up to 1.5 wide ( about
5ft). Good for low screen or hedge or as a specimen, particularly for
colour contrast.
Hardy in zone 9 (which should be just right for you) and very drought
and exposure resistant. Grows in just about any soil. What more could
you want? <G>
Note. The dimensions definitely seem to be maximum ones, two other
books give slightly less. In any case, if this seems a bit large, like
almost all coprosmas it should be very amenable to trimming.
