Re Deborah's enquiry: I don't know anything about its drought
tolerance (not, I would imagine, all that great) but its cold
tolerance is considerable. It certainly didn't like - but it did
survive and has flourished since - a week hovering around -12C here
(the coldest in more than 20 years) a couple of years ago. A pretty
thing (stylishly subdued rather than up front and in your face) and
well worth trying. I don't think it's every going to be more than a
medium sized shrub, with more inclination to go outwards than upwards,
at least in this climate. In the heat of CA, of course....

(There's also, I seem to remember, a confusingly similarly named
COROKIA 'Coppershine' as well.)
