Yes it is Bill.
Following that terrifying massacre in WW1, this species appeared in
the millions on the disturbed soil of the battlefields. 'Poppies'
(artificial paper or plastic ones) are now sold prior to Remembrance
Sunday in November each year, to commemorate the dead of both World
Wars with the proceeds going towards helping surviving veterans.
