Some years ago, this cultivar was introduced by Monrovia Nursery in
Azusa, CA. 'Majestic Beauty' is their trademarked name for a host of
cultivars within several genera; it labels those selections that are
extra vigorous and/or extra big.
Although I never heard any official word from Monrovia as to the true
parentage of Raphiolepis 'MJ', there's always been talk that this chance
seedling was the result of a wayward bee that found it's way from a
loquat tree (Maybe E. deflexa) to a blooming Raphiolepis. One in a
million chance. But, because of their taxonomic proximity, it's
possible.
You may want to contact Monrovia for official word.
