Re: Ebenus cretica/Glaucium flavum

Hello Anni,

I would be glad to do an exchange of a photo for the Ebenus plant(s), as I would probably want 3 of them to try them in several different situations.  I have taken slides of both the entire plant and closeups of the bloom as well, and shoot slides.  If you prefer, I can give you a slide or have photos made from the slides when I get back.  I also heard from Jinny at Seedhunt, and will probably arrange to get some of the apricot Glaucium from her when I get back as well, but would like maybe (2) 1 gallons of the yellow form that you have as well.  Thanks for all your help, and if you want photos of any of the other plants I mentioned, let me know.  Yesterday I was out at Kew Gardens,(going back again today), and was simply blown away by all the herbaceous perrenials that they have that are new to me.  Thursday I aim to hit Chelsea Flower Show all day, and trade comments with a Malaysian landscape architect friend also here in London.&nbs! p;! ! The exhibit for La Mortola with Alessandra Vinciguerra, who is part of the Medit-plants group, has gotten some favorable publicity as well, and I look forward to meeting her(hopefully).  Tonight there is an opening of Zimbabwean Sculpture at Kew Gardens, which I hope to see as well.

I will have to do alot of research and get some clients  with large areas for all these new plants, as there is absolutely no additional room in my garden unless I expand onto the roof, and after seing Santorini, that almost seems like a very practical thing to do, except that we don't have the warm balmy nights to want to be up on the roof to cool off...  I am excited about getting back into dry mediterranean plants after seeing Greece, although a spin through the Princess Diana Conservatory at Kew with all it's great tropicals reminds me more of what my garden at home is like, and I saw lots of plants I would dearly love to be growing..

Look forward to meeting up with you when I get back, regards, DavidI

OK. I will set them aside for you. I managed to dig out your original
message to the list and found that you also wanted Glaucium flavum. I have
a batch of that, too. Should I save you one or two? I would put them in
gallons now so that they would be in good shape in August. I planted one
myself in unamended clay soil this spring, and it doing very well in spite
of being a beach plant.
Glaucium flavum seed is not that hard to find. Ours was from Chiltern,
SeedHunt has the apricot flowered version and it regularly shows up on seed
exchange lists like CalHort and the Rock Garden Society.
I think that theRrock Garden society also had Ebenus cretica seed.
Did you by any chance photograph the Ebenus cretica? We could do an
exchange for a picture. That would be helpful for us trying to sell this
unknown plant.
