Re: 3d garden design
I used a CD ROM called 3DLandscape for a while but abandoned it
because it was so cumbersome. Just putting a curving path into the
plan would take hours. Also, the 3D rendering distorted the size of
the garden, so that the garden looked much bigger than it actually is.
The curves in the path that looked good in the computer garden would
have looked like Shirley Temple's curls in the actual garden.
It wasn't entirely a wasted effort, however. It did help in
visualizing major features and planting areas. And, I suspect that
fussing over the computer garden for hours and hours made me think
more clearly about what I wanted in the real garden. The layout I've
ended up with in my garden actually is pretty close to what I
constructed on the computer, minus those curly paths and the many
arbors that looked so good on the computer but would have looked like
a garden center display in real life.
