If you all aren't already shopped out with all the
various plants sales in April and May, the next annual
sale of the California Horticultural Society at the
Lake Merrit Garden Center in Oakland will be on June
3rd(open to the public/free, 10 am to 2pm) and
Saturday evening June 2nd for $5 admission). Check
the Cal Hort web site at www.calhortsociety.org for
directions, exact times. Alot of these plants are
propagated by members for the sale, so it is a diverse
collection of plants. As well, the San Francisco
Bromeliad Society will be selling plants, for people
who share my addictions...
This weekend also is simultaneous with the Garden
Conservancy Open Gardens Tours in San
Francisco(Saturday, June 2) and East Bay(Sunday, June
3rd). I'm pleased to say that one of my favorite
Berkeley client's gardens, (incredible aloes,
succulents and proteas in full bloom) is on the tour
again this year, and if anyone would like more info,
please email me privately. A directory of all the
local gardens on the tour is available for purchase
from the Garden Conservancy directly, or at the book
store at Strybing, and each open garden will also have
a list of other gardens open that day. This is a
worthy cause, and also includes some great gardens.
