RE: enlarging a space (was Fine-textured blue or grey foliage shrubs/trees?)

Hi Barry,

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm interested in finding a grey-green or
blue-green, fine foliaged plant for some of the background plantings. I
intend to use plants with other foliage colors and forms elsewhere.

Unfortunately, this particular property is one of the first to be finished,
so there are no plants in any of the neighboring properties. The surrounding
hills can occasionally be glimpsed between the two-story houses sited
cheek-to-jowl. I can't imagine living in a place like this.

I definitely plan to pass on everyone's suggestions for improving the soil.
It's bad enough, I suspect tilling in amendments AND layering on organic
matter is going to be needed. Right now, all there is is subsoil.

Thanks for your help,
Cheryl
