Re: Too much spam! (NOT medit)

Yahoo is undoubtedly the problem. Yahoo is giving out everyone's email address (and any other info they have) to any advertiser that pays for it. You can change your preferences in Yahoo (AGAIN) on their privacy page ( not sure of the title) under Mygroups to nothing being given out. However, that won't stop the spam coming from all those that have already obtained your email address. I had used two email addresses - Medit plants was coming on one, and lots of Yahoo groups on a another. I UNsubscribed to all Yahoo groups , and resubsubscribed (and checked the privacy preferences) under the 2nd email address. I have not received ANY spam under the 2nd email address, which includes Medit, and a few other private lists. The old email address continues to get spam, but at an slowly decreasing rate. I have set up lots of filters that send most spam directly to "Trash" so that it is not seen by me. (For example, any message containing any of the words debt, mortgage, incom!
e, loan, sex, girls, viagra, ADV, etc. goes directly to the Trash folder). In the USA, one can also sue in some states, if a spam provider does not take you off their mailing list on request. California requries that all spam include the abbreviation ADV in the subject or title, making it easy to filter.

One solution to the problem, that many people use, is simply to change email addresses every few months.
