Bidens heterophylla

Several months ago a generous friend gave me a root of Bidens
heterophylla. She told me to put it in a 15 gallon pot and plant it in the
garden. Instead I planted it in a 5 gallon pot, thinking I could dig it up
next year and replant it. Now the leaves are filling the ground around the
pot, and I'm waiting for the plant to flower. My problem is: recently I was
told that the roots of the Bidens are likely to grow out of the holes of
the pot and invade the garden. Is this plant an invader?
