re Echium vulgare

I bought one of them about 5 years ago, and they have re-seeded ever since.
I live in Sonoma County, about 50 miles north of San Francisco. Sometimes
the flowers are blue, sometimes pink, sometimes mixed on the same plant,
maybe start one color and fade to the other? They don't throw seed far from
the mother plants, and are not a nuisance, they overwinter, and as one plant
gets leggy and crummy looking, another is coming to take its place.
They're very drought tolerant.
