re Echium breaking

Sorry, Bill and Edward, perhaps I didn't explain properly where to find the plant photos on the website.  Once you are into the website, please click on Gallery (you'll see list on the left hand side)  and then, once you are into the Gallery and all the dog pics,  please click on Villa Lou Milou and you'll see all the photos of some of the plants in the garden. I think I've around 60 photos at the moment. (In fact, the plant photos are at the end of all the dog pics under that Gallery section. (Not the pics that run across the top of the page).

I think the rose you are referring to, Bill, is Rosa Senateur La Follette.  I planted one about two or three years ago and so far it's doing well.  William Waterfield has a wonderful one in his garden, the Clos du Peyronet, in Menton. As you say, it grows miles in the air.  I know it's sold now by a rose grower in Mougins, which is where I got mine.  I don't know of Villa Elenore Louise but will enquire of William for you. He'll surely know. I would love to read your article on this lovely rose when it's printed. Thankyou.

Edward, once the echium has flowered, I cut back to the lowest leaves but perhaps I should prune even more drastically. Thankyou for that advice. You are right, it's so easy to take cuttings - in fact I plan a lot this year - for myself and interested neighbours.  I find echiums the most marvellous fillers-up of big spaces and they look wonderful all year and of course stunning when in flower.

Thankyou for advice.
