I am certain some of our French subscribers may already be aware of this, but
in case they are not, and to let the rest of you know . . .
Olivier Filippi, nurseryman extraordinary, has published his book:
Pour un jardin sans arrosage (For a Garden without Irrigation)
http://gimcw.org/books/pujsaof.cfm
I first 'met' Olivier here on Medit-Plants - it must have been around 10 years
ago. He quickly established himself as quite an expert and we all looked
forward to seeing his careful and informative posts on this forum. He
continues to be a very busy guy, so perhaps this is why we've seen him less
over time.
The work he is doing creating gardens without irrigation is quite interesting.
Many Californian's who hear about his efforts immediate launch into sermons
about how it actually rains more in the Mediterranean than here, and sometime
in the summer as well, etc., etc. But I think the point really is that
Olivier is actually doing this, dedicatedly and with great discipline. I have
been unable to find anyone in California doing the same work.
There are already people coming forward to assist in translating Olivier's
work into English - I hope some day this happens as I would love to read
(without difficulty) the details of Olivier's experience and his wealth of
observations about the many plants he has grown in this manner.
