That's it! Thanks, Pam. The flickr picture shows the flower exactly as it is.
And to think that I spent a year in New Zealand and saw Coprosma often. The leaves are exactly as I remember them. I never thought of it being Coprosma because I am sure I have never bought one or sown its seeds.
However, if it has made itself at home in California, a seed could have been lurking in the pot of one of the many plants I have bought there.
OK. It's coming out. I think I would rather have a lemon tree. Think of how many lemons I could have had in 35 years.
