Hi everybody,
thank you, Sean to say that, because I did not know it comes true
from seed. As I have a lot of pink forms in the garden I'll collect
the seed for our seed list and members of MGS will have the
opportunity of sowing them.
It seems that the seeds have a long viability (hope it is the good
word), because my plants moved with me from Paris to Montpellier 10
years ago !

This is definitely Linaria purpurea, which can be moved, but often
doesn't like it. Fall would be the best time to try transplanting.
Collecting seed and sowing it where you want it works very well if
transplanting does not, so be sure and collect some seed as backup.
As mentioned, 'Canon Went', named for the English garden, is a
beautiful cultivar that comes true from seed - a light shell pink.
There is also a pure white form (Annies Annuals currently stocks it)
that I find beautiful! The clean white flowers and gray-green foliage
are classic.
All are best if deadheaded to keep the flowers coming and keep
self-sowing to a minimum. I have a few coming up in potted plants
even though I haven't grown this plant for a few seasons!

Thank you to all who sent public and private replies. The majority
vote goes
to Linaria purpurea, a minority to Perovskia atriplicifolia. In
either
event, the plant does not belong in the South African section of our
Mediterranean garden but rather the European. We like it. We will
try to
move it. Thanks again.

The plant is about 2 feet (60 cm) tall. Can anybody identify it
for us?
Thank you.
