Re: Almond tree

Hi Loarraine

No one seems to have offered a response so let me dive in and throw something out.  Its not unusual for plants in the prunus family to drop some of their fruit around this time of year.  I've heard it referred to as "June drop."  90% though seems like too much.  I'm wondering about irrigation and whether the tree is too water stressed to hold its fruits.

I did a quick google search and came across this article about shot hole fungus causing fruit drop.  You can read the intro to see if it may apply.

Remind me where you are?  You might also call your local extension office and ask for suggestions.

Do let us know what you discover please.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me why my almonds are falling off my Almond tree.  It had a lot of almonds this year and at least 90% are laying on the ground.  The tree is at least 25 years old.  I have another almond tree about 40 feet away and although not loaded it has a nice covering of almonds.  It is about 15 years old and I don't see any on the ground.
