There is a comprehensive book on the "Gardens of Europe" by Hobhouse and
Taylor, George Philip London 1990 ISBN0 - 540 - 01213 - 0. Cost then 25
pounds. It gives by countries 1/2 to 1/4 page on history with opening
times, etc. of most gardens worth seeing. Illustrated in colour.
