Re: I'm moving

Nick, Best wishes in your new job.

I had a wonderful holiday in Greece. The week in Crete was especially
good. Flowers everywhere, mostly bright yellow, but splashes of red, pink,
mauve and blue. Over at Phaestos we went for a walk along a little road
which was like walking in a huge garden. Yellow daisies under olive trees
were magic. Particularly cold with plenty of snow on the mountains. I
won't try to mention varieties of flowers as you know them all anyway and I
would be only guessing. One surprise was an iris-like flower springing
from the ruins at Olympia. The judas trees were out, as was the orange
blossom - in fact the blossom on the trees was a surprise, especially at
Olympia amongst the ruins. The little red poppies were always a surprise -
even growing through the bitumen on the roads!

Have a good photo of a donkey grazing amongst the yellow daisies in Santorini.

As we wound our way up to Delphi it began to snow! It was so beautiful.
In the morning there was snow on the mountains and FREEZING. What an
experience indeed, and we were so lucky as there had not been snow there in
April for a long time.

Sometimes the little white daisies in the Peloponnese looked like snow too!
The flowers at Epidauris were spectacular.

I tried to visit some of the places the med people suggested, but could not
do it all in the limited time. Thanks to everyone for their input. The
suggestions of reading matter helped with identifying some of the more
common plants and I was thrilled to see the cistis which I love clinging
to the mountain slopes. The white was well out and the pink seemed a
little behind but odd splashes of colour.

Must catch up on some work. Look forward to hearing from you Nick from
your new abode\country!
