leaf cutter bees help?

Just a few weeks ago, we planted a small (about one and a half foot tall)
Cercis occidentalis (western redbud). It is being eaten alive by
leaf-cutting bees. How can we protect the tree without using poisons until
it is established and able to fend for itself?
