Cabrillo College Annual Mother's Day Plant Sale

Dear fellow Medit-Plant folks,
I just moved south from El Cerrito to Santa Cruz County, California. After seven busy years in the front lines of retail madness at Berkeley Horticultural Nursery I decided a major change was needed. My new job as Horticultural Facilities Manager (aka Garden Manager) for the Cabrillo College Horticultural Program is just what I was looking for. So far every day is varied with a whole new set of challenges and rewards. Working with students in a learning situation is very exciting. I hope to be able to share some of my love of plants and my past horticultural experiences while at same time absorb some new sense of wonder and excitement about the green world about me.

Although I will be gardening in the same Sunset plant climate zone there are slightly different nuances here that I will have to learn through experience. I'm also looking forward to exploring the unusual coastal Ponderosa Pine forest that is nearby and of course every nursery and significant garden I can find. I'm also wondering where are the best displays of local wildflowers.

One of the reasons I choose Cabrillo College is their fabulous Mother¹s Day Weekend Annual Plant Sale. In addition to offering a wide range of annuals, biennials, perennials, vegetables and vines, their 20th annual sale boasts a significant collection of Salvias. The following is a list of most of the Sages that will be available at the sale. More information on the sale can be found in the May listing of sales and events of the Bay Area Gardener at <www.gardens.com> . More information on the Cabrillo College Horticulture Program can be found at <http://www.cabrillo.cc.ca.us/divisions/becho/hort/ > .
