Barry,
I've seen some massive palms moved in Perth lately
about 30-40 HUGE palms were relocated along riverside drive
they used a massive mobile crane and the trees were trucked in on low
loaders.
The only leaves pruned off were the dead ones or those on their way out.
Probably a good idea as then these trees would be pretty well
maintanence free for a decade or so.
They then established a trickle system around the base of each tree and
watered daily by the looks. This was in the middle of summer in gutless
sandy soils.
They probably haven't settled in yet, I would expect a few more months
yet but they all look OK.
If you can dig it out by hand with a decent rootball, keep it well
watered after transplanting, into similiar light conditions it was used
to, it should be fine.
Of course this is rather generic advice, if anyone knows this palm to be
a fussy beast please tell Barry!!
Cheers, Rod
