snail sympathy

I'm loathe to admit this, but ever since seeing that fabulous French 
documentary, "Microcosmos", about the insects in the south of France, 
I've had a hard time ruthlessly killing snails.  There was a 
beautiful, sensual scene of two snail copulating to a  soundtrack of 
Maria Callas.  So now, I chuck them down the stormdrain.  Wimpy, I 
know, but I've lost my delight in watching them die.
