Waxflower/Smokey Water

Julie, if you are unable to get to the UCSC Arboretoreum, but have
access to plants, maybe you could try Mach's grandmother's method with
cuttings! I am not a seed gatherer but you might try tying plastic bags
over the seeds when they look to be getting ripe. The idea of smokey
water was first developed in South Africa and taken further by Kings
Park in Perth; it is sold here in bottles and is produced by the Friends
of Kings Park by bubbling smoke through water. The Park even sells a CD
which shows how to do it.
