Oakleaf hydrangeas


Nan I grow these in Adelaide, South Australia.  They're next to an 
east-facing wall, and in semi-shade.  They're growing amongst hostas 
and hellebores and shaded by a white abutilon.  They are just magnificent!  
I also have some more in another part of the garden which don't do terribly 
well but I suspect in their case it's because of root competition from ivy 
and the next-door trees.  I've never had any luck with H. petiolaris, the 
climbing hydrangea though, I think it's too hot here.
