Diane, Thank you for all the great hummingbird info. Birds are amazing enough, but hummers are even more incredible. If you have a hummingbird friendly garden and you spend a lot of time in it when the hummers are active, you may have one nonchalantly land on your shoulder or head. When that happens, you have a magical connection with nature — the kind listers described last week in the "philosophy" thead. It has unexpectedly snowed 4 inches here overnight, flattening my tall fall salvias. Not a hummingbird in sight. Life goes on. Paul Harrar Nevada City, California Sunset Zone 7 2,700 ft.
