Coastal hebes

Here on central coast California the hebes thrive. The UCSC Arboretum has introduced any number of them. You will find them in mall plantings. I have five species that are doing very well. When they begin to bloom in September, sometimes a heat wave will brown the flowers, but they have withstood freezes and 100+ degree weather with no ill effects. It must be the coastal influence? But they are certainly part of a Med garden around here.  grant@cruzio.com
