To all Southern California Medit Plant Gardeners:
The Medit. Garden Soc., Southern Calif. Branch, invites all to attend our
fall meeting. Our speaker is Nancy Goslee Power, noted landscape designer
and author, who will show slides and talk about design elements in the medit
garden. Saturday, Nov. 17th at 1:45 p.m. in the auditorium of Franklin
Canyon Park, Mulholland Drive, just west of Coldwater Canyon Ave. Free and
open to the public, although a $5 donation at the door is appreciated to
cover expenses of refreshments, mailings, etc.
Nancy started out as an interior designer, which I think makes her
especially suited for designing California gardens, as we tend to live in
them year round and treat them as extensions of our homes. She recently
redesigned the garden at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. I was
especially impressed by the work she did on her first small home garden in
Santa Monica, where she designed a front courtyard, ridding her property of
that "all to familiar and almost required green lawn to the street" that you
find in typical American neighborhoods. P. S. She is a great speaker to
boot!
