Re: Winter blooms - Vancouver Island

I'm also on Vancouver Island but on the southern-most tip. I would be
interested to hear how old Diane's grevillea victoriae was when it died as
mine is about 10 now and seems to be going strong - presently vigorously
blooming and attracting the Anna's hummingbirds. Re the fuchsias - my
experience has been the same as Tim Longville's. F. m. "Alba" goes much
longer than the others. It's still blooming now and is fully in leaf except
for the side which faced the last storm (which is looking pretty
bedraggeled).

Re tree dahlias - Diane may be interested to learn that Royal Roads' garden
in Victoria has one which does bloom (or at least they did have one 2 years
ago). It is planted against a high very sunny wall.
