Moira,
I think you are correct about the sandy potting
medium needing more soil added and I am going to mention this the next time
I go back to get more plants. The natives I did get are in really
good shape, well rooted but not root bound. I had my husband
help me plant the last three Quercus dunnii today - these three were in
24in x 5in tapered pots, and just the top portion of sandy soil fell out but the
bottom stayed intact.
