These are quite different plants, and I was only
pointing out that I. fistulosa is not a mediterannean
species, but loves hot, hot summers, and can even
bloom in inland San Fernando Valley locations, but
will never reach the tree size it does in the tropics
of southern Mexico, where it is gorgeous.  It will not
do at all well where it really gets cold and wet in
winter, or where the summer temps simply don't suit
it.  I remember seeing masses of these growing in the
ruins of Monte Alban outside Oaxaca City.
