Hi Sean,
In San Diego County, my father grew the air plant Kalanchoe outdoors. It did spread a bit, mostly into nearby container plants, but the plants in the ground grew 3 or more feet tall and bloomed with a crown of hanging tubular flowers of the most wonderful coral pink. It has never bloomed in our house and I didn't appreciate the plant much after the initial fascination wore off until I saw it in bloom.
Best,
Pam Peirce
