I would like to obtain seed of this conspicuous mistletoe [Phoradendron
libocedri]. The mistletoe occurs only on the incense-cedar and is recorded
from southern Oregon to Baja California. The stems are more-or-less
pendant, 1-2 feet long and apparently leafless, the berries pinkish to
white or straw-colored, and should be ripe now. The plant, in general
appearance has been compared with the cyldrindric-stemmed epiphytic
cactus, Rhipsalis.
This mistletoe is not to be confused with any of the dwarf-mistletoes
[Arceuthobium], which are considered serious pathogens of pines and firs.
If you have access to Phoradendron libocedri and would like to help,
please email me for details.
