You don't sound like a new gardener to me Wendy. Your solutions and
plant choices are very sophisticated. You considered your site and let
it "tell" you what your landscape should be. Many practicing landscapers
are still not able to do this, but rather try to fit the site to their
own ideas. Congratulations! I can see it in my mind's eye.
Do try to get some mosquito fish (Gambusia affinis) as soon as you can.
Your local Mosquito Abatement District usually gives them out free or at
very low cost. Sometimes this office is called "vector control". You'll
have to look in the phone book. They are very tough little fish who'll
live in temperatures from 33 to 100*. And will keep that larva under
